Campus Update – June 30, 2020 – Fall 2020 Information Update

Hello Acadia Students,

I hope you are keeping well and enjoying the first few weeks of summer.  The Acadia team continues to work diligently to plan for a safe and smooth return to your studies and campus this fall. As a result, I am pleased to encourage you to visit Acadia’s Student Life Page to review our Fall 2020 course formats and begin to familiarize yourself with what campus life could look like this fall.

How a course is facilitated could depend on the size of the class, the content topics and the level of classroom participation. Each course will be delivered in one of five formats. The course delivery of each course will be shared by Friday, July 10th.

1. On-Campus Instruction (FF)

On-campus activities requiring in person delivery that cannot be modified for virtual instruction. Delivery of these activities will be adjusted to comply with public health guidelines and physical distance requirements.

Hybrid Courses

A flexible course structure that combines elements of both classroom-based and virtual learning. Students will have the option of attending course components in the classroom or virtually. There are two formats:

2. Scheduled Instruction (HS)
Virtual Instruction will have specific “live” class times as noted in the course timetable for lectures and other activities. Pace of course content delivery, in addition to required assignments and on-going assessment will be consistent across both virtual and classroom-based environments.

3. Unscheduled Instruction (HU)
Virtual Instruction will be unscheduled allowing students to participate primarily on their own schedule. Pace of course content delivery, in addition to required assignments and on-going assessment will be consistent across both virtual and classroom-based environments. These courses will provide flexible options for students who wish to study online and/or who will be residing outside the province in time zones that would make it difficult for them to align with courses scheduled in the Atlantic Time Zone.

Virtual Courses

Virtual courses will take place entirely online. There are two forms:

4. Scheduled instruction (VS)
These courses offer specific “live” class times as noted in the course timetable for lectures and other activities. Faculty and instructors also have the flexibility to integrate additional online activities directly with the class and/or individual students.

5. Unscheduled instruction (VU)
Virtual instruction providing students with the flexibility to complete a course based primarily on their own schedule. These courses will provide flexible options for students who wish to study online and/or who will be residing outside the province in time zones that would make it difficult for them to align with courses scheduled in the Atlantic Time Zone.

Recognizing there are still details to be shared, we invite you to attend and participate in our upcoming Fall 2020 Information Sessions and Faculty Webinars. Please see dates and time below:
