March 12, 2020 — Campus Update

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, and the risk remains relatively low. However, two Acadia University community members recently attended an out-of-province conference where another attendee was later diagnosed with COVID-19. They are currently following the self-quarantine advice of public health authorities. More than 23,000 people participated in the conference.

Acadia is in regular contact with public health officials in Nova Scotia, who are working with their Ontario counterparts to ensure we are following recommended protocols. Classes are continuing at this time.

Acadia continues to monitor coronavirus, and last week started enhanced cleaning and mitigation measures across campus. That is ongoing. You will see additional signage detailing steps you can take to protect yourself and others from the spread of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.

If you have specific concerns, please reach out to your professor or supervisor for assistance or access one of the University or government supports listed on Acadia’s COVID-19 information website. It is important to use reliable information regarding this, or any other health-related concern.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as this global situation unfolds. We will issue updates when new information is available. Let’s all work together and support one another as we continue our day-to-day activities with extra care and consideration.
