March 10, 2020 — Campus update

Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a flu-like illness caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Currently, there is no known case of COVID-19 at Acadia University.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for Canada at this time. Nova Scotia Public Health and Wellness has also evaluated the risk to people in Nova Scotia as low.

Acadia continues to monitor developments of COVID-19. We rely on the expertise of Public Health for guidance in dealing with infectious diseases, and we take our lead from them regarding protocols and procedures.

Although the chance of becoming seriously ill remains relatively low, the effects of COVID-19 have already affected people across the globe. The threat of this illness can generate feelings of anxiety.

Acadia has established this website to provide information from trusted experts and resources and ensure that the appropriate contact information is readily available to help our students, faculty, and staff continue to be safe, comfortable, and productive.

Acadia has activated a working group to monitor the spread of the Coronavirus and to be in contact with all relevant authorities. We plan to provide you with the most timely and accurate information possible. To date, Acadia's operations remain unaffected, so please continue your studies and work and be well.
